Dad Needs to Be Able to Soothe and Put the Baby to Sleep
It was so easy: flop with the baby in the rocking chair and let her fall asleep in my arms. And it was lovely to have the bonding time with her, especially after a long work day. Plus, while I was busy putting the kid to sleep, that left the yucky tasks, like loading the dishwasher, dumping the trash, and walking the dog in the rain and snow, to him.
I was a baby hog. I never let my husband put our daughter to sleep. The punishment: each night I am a prisoner, and the prison master is my little girl. The kid is past two and she needs me with her to fall asleep.
New moms: don’t learn this one the hard way! Dad needs to be able to soothe and put the baby to sleep.

I totally agree. My first baby was bottle fed (due to many unfortunate factors) and my husband and I took turns getting him to sleep.
I was able to nurse my second baby and it was just so easy to nurse him to sleep for his naps and his bedtime. I would often fall asleep next to him. It was wonderful, I loved it, BUT now that is the only way he will fall asleep.
Daddy can't get him to sleep, forget about the occasional babysitter. Ugh. Lesson Learned.
