Can I Go On?
Oh my gosh! My weekly horoscope was missing from the newspaper. How would I (and other Scorpios) know what steps to take for seven whole days? This was awful!!!
But wait. This omission might be a good thing. After all, a horoscope doesn’t mean that, to live successfully, I need to rigidly adhere to a forecast based on the position of the planets and stars at a given time. Like a weather forecast, a horoscope is one indication—if you believe the astrologer—of what could happen, not what will happen. (There have been many times I took an umbrella because the forecast called for rain, and I didn’t need it!) I would just have to wing it.
The next day I received a large check in the mail. Great! I wondered if the planets and stars had predicted this monetary gain. Or was it my good fortune? It was neither. I, myself, without any celestial guidance, had closed an account, hence the check.
On the second day, I painted a room in my house. Were the planets and stars in the right alignment for me to undertake this task? Who knows? The timing for the paint job was right, horoscope or not. New carpeting was arriving and the room needed to be painted. And, whether or not this was the best time to undertake decorating tasks, I did a good job.
Then came the third day. I’ll never know if planetary activity foreshadowed a bit of friction at home, but it sprang up anyway. How could it not? Our daughter, a recent college graduate, returned home to live. Her junk was (and is) piled everywhere, making our house an obstacle course. A few choice words flowed throughout the day from my husband’s mouth each time his path was blocked by something she chose not to put away. Friction? Definitely!
Facing the future
I have four more days to get through without the help of a horoscope. Should I meet with friends? And, if I do, will they be petty? Will I have a romantic encounter with my husband? (He’ll have to clean up his language for this to happen!) Will positive changes come into my life? (Getting my daughter to organize her stuff would definitely be a positive change.)
So do I need a horoscope? Can I make decisions, have relationships, plan trips, make good career choices and fulfill my destiny without the aid of a planetary guide interpreted by an astrologer? Over the years I’ve learned that I can. But, then again, we passionate, creative, curious, controlling, stubborn—yep that’s me!—Scorpios can use all the help we can get—and Sunday’s newspaper is just a few days away!
