Start Now!
New Year’s resolutions! I learned the hard way that I always make them…and I always break them! One of my resolutions this year was to write at least one blog for this site at least once a week. I do believe that we are already into the second week of the year and this is my first blog of the year. Oh well! I resolve to do better!
One resolution that I stopped making at the New Year was to lose weight and get fit. For years and years and years I made this resolution and as many times as I made it I failed when chocolate or cheesecake or pizza were close at hand (and I made sure these food necessities were always within reach). Then I did something amazing.
In the fall of 1994 I decided to lose weight. I didn’t wait until January 1 of 1995 and I didn’t choose a Monday to start so I could pig out the prior weekend. One fall day I just decided it was time to lose weight and get fit. Once this decision—note the word is “decision” and not “resolution”—I started my journey to health and fitness. Three years later I had lost 170 pounds.
Now it’s 2008 and I’ve kept off 150 of the 170 pounds. That’s pretty darn good…BUT, darn, I would like to get these added 20 pounds off again! But I didn’t make a New Year’s resolution to accomplish this. Instead I got back to the gym and cleaned the junk out of the refrigerator and cupboards. Resolutions don’t result in weight loss; actions do! I’m not trying to lose weight; I’m doing it!
If weight loss is your goal for 2008, start today. Sure it’s not the first of the year or the first day of the week or even the first day of the month. Today is Wednesday, which is a great day to start moving toward your goal. Join me today on this journey to improve your health, your body and how you look!

I was wondering if you were ever coming back!!!! What a way to start the new year even if it isn't a resolution per se. Keep up the good work.
